Can a give away at a casino change your life? Marx Creative, in partnership with the four Ho-Chunk Nation Gaming casinos in Wisconsin, proved it can. A “life changing” promotion called “The Million Dollar Giveaway” re-established Ho-Chunk Nation casinos as the place to win big. The results from the giveaway dramatically increased year to year, over the three years the promotion was presented. Sign ups for the casinos’ loyalty card doubled. Customer “coin in,” meaning the amount of money spent per customer per visit, increased by more than 50 percent. And the casinos’ share of market—the number of people who choose one casino over another—increased by more than 25 percent. Anecdotally, operators of competing casinos informed us that the Million Dollar Giveaway actually decreased their customer count and coin-in by more than 15 percent during the time frame of the promotion.
